Carson’s Pick of the Week: Foster The People ‘Sit Next To Me’

January 6, 2018

With three albums under their belt, Foster The People are mixing things up.

The process of creating the Sacred Hearts Club album saw them add two members to their line up (Isom Innis and Sean Cimino) and shift their musical style.

Isom Innis, who toured with the band for years before becoming a permanent member, says the album had been in the works for three years and is born from experimentation and improvisation.

The result – trading a guitar influence for a more electronic-based sound and adopting a more positive focus to the content of their songs. While their 2011 breakout hit “Pumped Up Kicks” talked about violence and depression, their new album inspires a happier and more optimistic view of the world.

Listen to ‘Sit Next To Me’ from Foster The People’s Sacred Hearts Club below – it’s Carson’s Pick of the Week.
