Sam Smith has returned to the pop music scene and he’s got some pretty big shoes to fill – his own!
In the time since releasing In The Lonely Hour, winning four Grammys and an Oscar, Sam Smith has challenged himself to grow and better himself as an artist. Now a few years after his debut, Sam Smith has reemerged claiming, “I’ve changed in every way, but I also haven’t changed at all.”
‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ is the first song off his upcoming second album and delivers all the Sam Smith trademarks we love – heartbreak, falsetto, and gospel influence. He told the Daly Download, “What excites me the most about this record is releasing music knowing that there are people who are actually interested and listening to it. When I released my first album, there were not many people waiting for it. This time, there are a few people who are waiting for it.”
Sam Smith recently set out on a four-date mini tour, performing in intimate venues in LA, New York, London, and Berlin. Sam called it one of the most rewarding, important moments of his career, “I just wanted to get back to seeing the whites of people’s eyes and being really scared because performing in front of small crowds really frightens me.”
It’s a good thing Sam’s getting his performance jitters out now because ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ and a new album can only mean we’ll be seeing a lot more of Sam Smith this year.
