It’s appropriate that Launch Artist J Balvin’s ¬†current single is called ‘Mi Gente’ (My People) because he’s continuously shown up for the Latino community.

In 2015, he sacrificed his first major USA TV performance at the Miss USA competition in protest of pageant owner Donald Trump’s comments about immigrants. Then, he started the #LatinosSomosUnidos hashtag to highlight the conflicts along the Venezuelan-Colombian border which earned support from many other Latin musicians.

Before that though, he built a serious name for himself in the Spanish music scene with hits like ‘Yo Te Lo Dije’, ‘6AM’, and ‘Ay Vamos’, which was the first Spanish language music video to rack up over 1 billion views. He’s also been featured on remixes for Ariana Grande’s ‘Love The Way’ and ‘Problem’, Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’, and Maroon 5 ‘Maps.’

You’re guaranteed to be seeing a lot more from him. Take a listen to ‘Mi Gente’ below.
