For Kanye West, it doesn’t take much to create an “event.” On Friday (June 24) at 7:00 p.m. PT, Yeezy is throwing a party at the Forum in Los Angeles to unveil the video for “Famous,” from his most recent album The Life of Pablo.
The event is expected to be similar in scope to the Pablo listening party he held in February at Madison Square Garden, which incorporated a fashion show and performance art. While West will be present at the “Famous” video event, he is not expected to perform. Tickets will be $25 and they’re going on sale today (June 23) at 10:00 a.m. PT, confirms Tidal, which will stream the event live for subscribers and non-subscribers alike. Tidal will hold an exclusive on the “Famous” clip for a week, after which it will be available at other outlets.
The most controversial track on The Life of Pablo, “Famous” caused waves when Taylor Swift heard the lyrics, which include the lines, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that b—- famous.”
Furious, Swift reacted to Yeezy’s wordplay in a speech at the GRAMMY Awards. But West insists he talked to Swift before “Famous” came out and that she gave him her blessings to release the track.
We’ll see on Friday how all that factors into the content of the video. We bet Swift’s camp is already preparing a statement.
