Three years after they started dating and one year into their fraught engagement, Iggy Azalea and Nick Young have officially called it quits. Following efforts to rebound from a cheating scandal that ignited tabloid media and allegedly threw the L.A. Lakers off their game, Iggy opened up about their irreconcilable differences.
“Unfortunately although I love Nick and have tried to rebuild my trust in him – It’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to,” Iggy wrote on Instagram. “I genuinely wish Nick the best. It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned you’re [sic] entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page.”
Three months ago, Nick was taped by teammate D’Angelo Russell discussing his proclivity for stepping out on Azalea. At the time, Iggy dismissed the speculation, though the fate of their union remained in question. Their wedding was delayed for “professional reasons” and Iggy dove into album promotion and accepted a judging gig on Australian X-Factor.
In contrast to Iggy’s thoughtful note, Young took a more minimalist approach, tweeting the word “Single.”
