Coldplay’s new video for their third single “Up&Up” off A Head Full of Dreams re-imagines spaces in creative ways so that a volcano becomes a popcorn popper and a sponge becomes a soccer field. The video blends natural and urban settings with past and present images for something surreal and beautiful.

Directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, the video is an inventive look at the unity of the planet. Coldplay looms large within that theme. Chris Martin lays on vast fields while singing and Will Champion plays drums sitting as tall as a mountain.

The video seems to suggest how much the world needs harmony between animals and people, as well as people from different ethnicities. Martin sings on the chorus, “Saying we’re gonna get it, get it together/ I know we’re gonna get it, get it together somehow/ We’re gonna get it, get it together and flow.” By presenting a kind of visual flow, the video does just that.

Coldplay will soon begin the European leg of their world tour in late May before heading Stateside in mid July. They added additional U.S. dates to keep them on the road through August.
